Surprisingly, not all organizations currently have a quality costs policy. Nonetheless, the prevention-appraisal-failure (PAF) model to manage quality costs is widespread in the modern industry. How this model relates to the appropriate use of world-class quality tools, following the 6-step structure of total quality management is to be present in available literature. This study proposed the use of a new way to correlate both via the TWCQM-COPAF matrix. To confirm this, a systematic literature review based on SALSA method and a simple Bibliometrix exercise, were used, not only confirming such relationships, but also concluding that world class quality tools under total quality management and the PAF model are appropriate for use in small and medium automotive suppliers and at the same time, quality gets closer to Industry 4.0 technologies.
