Abstract

Variable compensation is an important tool as a component to recognize the real contribution of people in the organization´s performance.
Therefore, many medium and large private corporations have been using it since the end of the 20th century (Varela, 2013). The adaptation of companies to global change, and thus to the development and use of new adaptation tools
is now materializing into reality. The changes related to the trade globalization affect companies at all levels, from both a technical and a management human resources point of view. Undoubtedly, if organizations adapt their processes to these global changes, it is also necessary to review and modify compensation
systems to assess, motivate and improve the worker’s performance. In this research we want to know the importance of the elements of variable compensation as motivators to improve the employees job performance, is a theoretical orientation research, emphasizing that the main objectives of compensation, in particular of variable remuneration, is to improve the
company's results and promote effectiveness.
