Abstract

This article points out what can be considered as “Management under a Quality Culture”, Total Quality Management [TQM] or simply Quality Management [QM], citing two contrasted points of view from international practitioners and researchers. Previous efforts of Mexican practitioners and consultants using case methods and empirical generalizations, consider and place TQM as a major trend and force change for the new millennium. It is argued that formal statistical researches testing TQM concepts and interrelations are scant. The author proposes and tests an aggregated structural equations model based on field data from his doctoral research information from 45 Mexican manufacturing firms. Data analysis is performed with SPSS and AMOS using regression and determination coefficients, with high degree of significance. In conclusion the author suggests additional strategies for future and more refined data analysis.
