This study explores a comprehensive methodology for building and scaling an e-commerce business with the intention of achieving a profitable exit. The approach combines strategic planning from the outset, focusing on defensibility, reducing dependencies, diversifying revenue channels, maintaining competitiveness, preventing obsolescence, driving growth, ensuring transferability, and maintaining thorough documentation. Additionally, the methodology incorporates strategies for leveraging artificial intelligence, specifically Amazon's Rufus conversational AI system, as a growth multiplier and exit value enhancer. By incorporating principles of reverse engineering, this methodology guides business owners to align their decisions and strategies with their ultimate goal of a successful and lucrative exit. The insights presented are derived from over six years of experience in launching dozens of SKUs on Amazon and consulting for various clients, leading to over $2 million in sales.
